Richard Nuttall has served as Director of Coaching for the Massapequa Soccer Club since 2011. In his role as DOC, Richard is responsible for all soccer-related decisions, from content and structure of the U5-U8 programs to style of play on up through roster selection of our Elite (NPL) teams. He is responsible for the selection, hiring and ongoing training of our professional training staff. He also plays a pivotal role in helping MSC players with their college recruitment efforts as well as promoting our players within the soccer community.
In addition to his role with MSC, Richard has spent the better part of the last three decades as the Head Coach of the Hofstra University Men’s Soccer Team where he has been named CAA Coach of the year twice (2015 & 2016). He was also recognized as NSCAA Division I Coach of the Year for Region II in 1997 on the heels of a 14-4-3 record, including a 9-0 mark in America East play.
A native of South Yorkshire, England, Richard played professionally with Leeds United and Stoke City of the English Football League. He graduated from the Carnegie School (College) of Physical Education in West Yorkshire in 1984. It was during this time that Richard received his Football Association coaching certificates.
Richard and his wife, Christine, reside in New Hyde Park, New York, with their three children, Jack, Caroline, and Grace.
